Any colleges/universities that teach Japanese, plus Film or Video Production?

I want to increase my knowledge in Japanese and Kanji than I have now. I already know up to 3rd grade Japanese and can use them well. The learning of more Japanese will help me well when I’m in Japan studying. However, I must study Film Production and more Japanese in the U.S. first.
It would be best if you add the URL of the college/university website.
Thanks! :D

What jobs could I get with an A.D. in film and video production?

Do any jobs pay at least $30K (without making it big in movies or whatever)? Also, I always wanted to work behind the scenes in a newsroom. Are any jobs like that available for someone with an associate degree in fim and video production technology?

The options and horizon is limitless. The road to take to get there are various and many. A degree in film and video production won’t hurt, but it may not help as much as you might think. It is a brutal business that is very much what have you done for me lately. You will probably not be able to finish school and walk into a job. More likely you will have become an intern somewhere and prove yourself. You will need to continue to learn and keep up with rapidly changing technology. You will need to prove yourself as the most energetic guy on the set that is willing to do anything for the cause. You will need to develop and maintain relationships with everyone on the set (you never know who might be in a position to hire you next week).
It might be easier to take the local TV news route, but you will probably still need to intern and show them you are a valuable member of the crew and staff that is willing and capable to fill several slots (camera, audio, lighting, etc). That degree can help get your foot in the door, but it will not insure a job in the biz. If you have determination and want to and are a lifelong student your potential is limitless. You also need some breaks along the way.

What are the responsibilities of a technical director on the set of a video or film production?

In addition, what is the necessary education/training/work experience needed to work in this career. Thanks in advance!

While both film & TV are related, and many employees work back and forth, a Technical Director is usually employed in television. They have worked up in ranks and is next in line to the director. They have a clear understanding of how each piece of equipment works, and is usually the person a crew member goes to when they have an equipment problem.

Education: College is helpful, but not required.
Training: Film- close to where they make films
TV- any local tv station

Either way you go, you start from the bottom. You may want to eventually be a cinematographer, but you still start out as a P.A.

I wrote a series of articles for those looking to start a career in this industry. You may find them helpful.

What is the difference between Cinematography and Film/Video Production and Film/Cinema Studies?

Which one do i pursue if i want to be a movie director??

Cinematography and Film/Video Production is the "how it’s done" courses.
Film/Cinema Studies is the theory of what and how cinema works etc.
You can’t be a good director if you don’t have a decent working knowlege of how movies are actually made.

What is a good camera for amatuer video production? what Editing software is good also?

I want to start making movies/ videos before i start that major in college so that i get a feel for editing, fliming, and production. Im not looking to spend a ton of money, but what is an above average camera that is not too expensive? Since i am just starting i dont know many names of editing software. i only know Pinnalce because that is what my friend has. Just looking for answers.

Photobucket is a great web based and FREE editing tools. The software behind it comes from Adobe who make some of the best commercial ($$$) photo and video editors. Also check out Jaycut which allows you to export and save your videos! If you need/want more features downloading VideoSpin, VideoPad or VideoThang are great options. Still free, but you have to download the software. For under $100 you can buy Adobe Premiere Elements.
